Paul Dowling

Paul came to a living faith as a teenager at school. After leaving university, he trained as an accountant and worked for the oil giant BP for several years, before receiving a call to the Anglican ministry. He was ordained in 1990 and for 17 years was Vicar of St. John’s Church in Wakefield, where he was actively involved in mission and evangelism, being recognised as a Diocesan Evangelist. In 2011 he and his wife Marjorie moved to Châteauroux in central France to lead a French-speaking Church, the culmination of a lifelong interest in France and all things French. In 2020 they retired, and returned to Yorkshire to live in Harrogate, near their family. They are now active members of the Anglican network church, Kairos, and help lead one of its missional communities. They were excited to discover that there are little groups in Harrogate who get together to speak foreign languages (French, Italian) and have found them to be a rich source of new friendships.
Paul has been a member of FPE since 1996. He and Marjorie have a son, a daughter and two delightful grand-daughters.
